Andre Rieu, full name André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu, is a Dutch violinist and conductor who created the Johann Strauss Orchestra. Together they have transformed classical music and waltz music at touring concerts around the world. He has received many awards and precious medals of honor such as the Medal of Honor in his hometown of Limburg, the Order of the Netherlands Lion honor of the Netherlands, and the Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France. .
At the University, Rieu performed Gold And Silver Waltz by Franz Lehár. After receiving many positive reviews from the audience, he decided to choose waltz music. He founded the Maastricht Salon Orchestra, and serves as a violinist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. In 1987 he created the Johann Strauss Orchestra and founded his own production company.
