Who is Composer Hoang Viet?
Musician Hoang Viet's real name is Le Chi Truc, he also has the pseudonym Le Truc. He is a Vietnamese musician famous for his symphony "Homeland", the first symphony of Vietnam. He is the author of the immortal song "Love Song".
Since 1944, musician Hoang Viet has started composing, the first two songs are Big Sister, Biet Do Thanh. Before 1945, he used the pseudonym Le Truc to compose. After being arrested for being suspected of showing signs of reaction, in prison he changed his pen name to Hoang Viet Han. Later, he dropped the word "Hat", becoming a pen name Hoang Viet.
His song "Love song" was written in 1958, on the occasion of returning to Thanh Hoa to visit his old unit. He was asked by friends to compose a song before going to Sofia Conservatory, Bulgaria to study. Hoang Viet was also very emotional and nodded that he would try to have a song before going to practice. The next day, on the way back to Hanoi, a new song was born, it was a love song that at its birth, the singers, listeners, northerners and southerners gathered were all deeply moved because it was the inner feelings of a divided country”.
In 1958, Hoang Viet studied at Sofia Conservatory, Bulgaria and graduated with honors with the symphony "Homeland". After he returned home, the symphony "Homeland" was first performed in Vietnam in 1965 at the Hanoi Opera House. According to musician Ca Le Thuan commented “This symphony by Hoang Viet is also a symphony medley. our country's first. This is a work of epic nature with a massive scale, which has marked an important growth step for Vietnamese musicians”.
Musician Hoang Viet died on December 31, 1967 in Cai Be district, My Tho province (now Tien Giang province) .
For his great contributions to the country's music, musician Hoang Viet was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize by the Vietnamese government. on Literature and Arts in 1996. On November 22, 2011, Hoang Viet was posthumously awarded the title of hero of the people's armed forces by the President Truong Tan Sang signed with poet Le Anh Xuan, and a number of other writers and artists.

During the resistance war in the South, Hoang Viet came to the revolution. Under the pseudonym Le Truc, he wrote the song Whistle in the Night Mist, but was suspected of being "reactionary", so he was arrested and sent to re-education for 3 months. Thanks to a guarantor, he was later released and returned to work at the military music group. Around this time, he used the pen name Hoang Viet Han to compose. Later, he dropped the word "Hat", becoming a pen name Hoang Viet.
He worked at Doan Van Cong in the Central South region (zone 8) located in Dong Thap Muoi. In 1951, Hoang Viet was sent to Doan Van to assign inter-regional division in the Southeast region.
In 1956 he entered the Vietnam School of Music, in 1958 was sent to study at the Bulgarian National Conservatory of Music.
In 1966, musician Hoang Viet and other writers and artists such as Luu Huu Phuoc, Nguyen Quang Sang... went to work at Doan Van Cong of the Southern Liberation Army.
