Who is Composer Van Ky?
Musician Van Ky's real name is Vu Van Ky, he is the author of many red music and lyrical music.
In 1946, Van Ky wrote his first song called Ancient Moon. Also around this time, he was sent to attend Inter-zone 4 music class at Nghe An. After finishing the course, he was assigned to cultural activities in Binh Tri Thien. This is also the time when he released the famous song "Binh Tri Thien Rises". The song won the award of the Inter-regional arts association 4.
In 1954, musician Van Ky won the great music prize at the National Literary Congress with 2 musical scenes "Dan Cong on the road" and Lua Thoi To.
From 1955 - 1957, he joined the band of the Vietnam Arts and Culture Association. In 1957, he was one of the founding members of the Vietnam Composers Association. He held the position of Executive Committee member of Vietnam Musicians Association and Standing Member of the association from term 1 to term 2. He attended many classes guided by foreign experts and then went to study abroad. Internship in the Soviet Union.
Up to now, musician Van Ky has composed a total of nearly 400 pieces of music, including works on vocals, operas, dances and symphonies. The most typical songs in Van Ky's composing career must be mentioned: Tay girl takes the piano to the top of the mountain, Nha Trang returns in autumn, Hanoi's sky is blue... and especially with the song Song Hy Hope... The opera with K'Nhi dance troupe consisting of 7 chapters written for the symphony orchestra has been performed many times in the Soviet Union and East Germany, was released in 1989.

He was born into a family of Confucian scholars. As a child, he grew up in his uncle's family in Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province.
In 1943, he took part in revolutionary activities. In 1944, he was arrested by the French and then released by the Japanese authorities. In 1945, he joined the militia of Nong Cong district to seize power. He was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1946.
