Nguyen Dinh Quang is a theater director, playwright, and theater theorist.
He used to be Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, Rector of Vietnam University of Theater and Cinema, Standing Member of Executive Committee of Vietnam Association of Theater Artists, term I, Chairman of the Arts Council of Theater Artists Association. Vietnamese stage. In 1984, Nguyen Dinh Quang was awarded the title of Professor by the Vietnamese government. In 1993, he was awarded the title of People's Artist (NSND).
After graduating from a directing course at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing and earning a doctorate from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang returned home, becoming one of the first generation of theater directors. the first in Vietnam, and the first to introduce the theatrical method Stanislavski and Bertolt Brecht.
The first plays he staged such as: Winter Through Spring, Flattering Red Flag, Lieh Hoa Hong Tam, Revolutionary Family... After that, he produced many successful plays and won many gold and silver medals. at national theater festivals such as: A Stormy Night, My Captain (Dao Hong Cam), The End of Night (Sad Dat), Age of Twenty (Luu Trong Lu), Doctor (Luu Quang Vu), Hao (Le Quy Hien), Good man from Sichuan (Bertolt Brecht)...
With the play "My Captain", People's Artist Dinh Quang was the first to bring cinema to the stage.
People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang was also the author of many resistance plays such as: The Brother, Towel of the Resistance War, The other side, The flower garden path, The Golden Seed, ...
People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang is also one of the founders of the Vietnam School of Dramatic Art. He also held the position of Rector of this school.
People's Artist Dinh Quang also authored books on culture such as: Vietnamese Art with the Development of Vietnamese Personality and Civilization, NamAnd Humanity, and Culture, Perceiving and handling culture in the world, Literature and art and the formation and development of personality, Literature and art of Thang Long - Hanoi past and present, ... Many of his works has been collected in the Collection Dinh Quang including 4 volumes: About the Vietnamese stage; About foreign theater (1962), About literature and art (1995), About culture (1999).
In 2007, People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang received the award Ho Chi Minh about literature and art.
On July 12, 2015 People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang passed away, at Da Nang due to old age and weakness.
