Who is Economist John Maynard Keynes?
British economist and founder of modern macroeconomics whose idea of the cause of business cycles is known as Keynesian economics. He was included in Time magazine's 1999 list of the 100 most important and influential people of the 20th century.
His ideas contradict many long-held notions of the free market. and he argued that aggregate demand determines the overall level of economic activity, and that inadequate aggregate demand can lead to prolonged periods of high unemployment.
