At an early age, Trinh Hoa was arrested and became an eunuch serving in the imperial capital of the Ming Dynasty (at the age of 10). From there he grew up and served Prince Minh Thai To Chu Nguyen Chuong. He was one of his friends from birth and death and was loyal to the prince throughout his youth. He was also the one who helped the prince gain the throne in a bloody war in 1402. And the prince ascended the throne to become King Minh Thanh To (the name Vinh Lac). He was later promoted to admiral.
