Phan Thanh Hung is a former player of the Vietnam national football team. Currently, he is known as a football coach.
In 2006, he was the head coach of the Da Nang U17 team. Thanks to good tactics, Phan Thanh Hung and his students won 2nd place in the national U17 final round. In 2007, Phan Thanh Hung's teachers and students continued to hold second place in the national U17 tournament.
Before officially leading the Vietnam national football team on September 1, 2012, Mr. Hung was quite successful from the youth tournaments, then concurrently served as a rich club in the Vietnam National Championship. In 2008, he led his students to win the U21 tournament held by Thanh Nien newspaper. Since 2008, he started working as an assistant for the Vietnamese football team. At the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup, Phan Thanh Hung and his teammates became the champions this season. In 2009, he continued to succeed when he brought the U21 team to Da Nang to become the champion of the Thanh Nien newspaper U21 tournament. Also in 2009, he worked as an assistant for the Vietnam U23 team during the 2009 Seagame season. At the end of the 2009 Seagame, the U23 Vietnam team became the champion. In 2010 as the Head Coach of Hanoi T&T club, Phan Thanh Hung led his students through the rounds and won the championship trophy at the V-league 2010. Also in this year Phan Thanh Hung and the students of Hanoi T&T club won the 2010 Vietnam Super Cup. At the 2011 V-league, Phan Thanh Hung and the students of Hanoi T&T ranked 2nd after the tournament. . In 2012, Phan Thanh Hung resigned as Head Coach of the Vietnamese team after the team failed to compete in the 2012 AFF Cup. In 201, he returned to be the Head Coach for Than Quang Ninh club. At the National Cup season, Than Quang Ninh won the championship.
