About 40 years ago, a journalist's tools were a pen and a camera. From my professional and life experiences, I came up with ideas for my personal projects in 1993, when I photographed a foreign leader for the first time, French President Franc5ois. Mitterrand when he visited the city. In Ho Chi Minh City, Son is also a reporter for the newspaper Long An. After "meeting" this president, Son formed an idea: to make a photo collection of portraits of foreign leaders and politicians. They come to Vietnam to mark a historic - diplomatic event and it's easy for them to come back a second time so they can find the opportunity to shoot again. Son joined the Saigon newspaper village. And, with the article interviewing Minister of the Interior Bui Thien Ngo in 1994, he caught the "green eye" of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security newspaper. HCM. Coming here since 1995, he has had many conditions to approach international politicians as well as the opportunity to implement his ideas. Meeting Son in the first few years he limped into practice in Saigon (with a camera that was out of sync with the lamp and not enough money to buy many films to "burn" for political portraits), the brothers had no many impressions, besides that he is a gentle and cute person with articles and photos published in Cong An newspaper. Then his writing hand and especially his mechanical hand became more and more sturdy and sharp. Since then, photos of politicians or national and international leaders published in this newspaper are mostly signed by Gian Thanh Son.
In real life, Gian Thanh Son is very simple. A slightly stern appearance, experienced in a sincere living heart, always living for friends, with flowing hair that falls loosely in front of a wide, romantic crown like himself...
Perhaps his childhood in the poor river area of Long An land - where there is a small riverside boat and long running nipa trees - was the driving force that prompted Gian Thanh Son to pick up the camera. “Back then, it was hard, the family was poor, but the blood of taking pictures was great - he said: At that time, there was no money, so when I saw someone with a camera, I was running around looking for an excuse to approach and beg... touch it. My whole family struggled to buy me a Canon camera to satisfy my passion. Taking advantage of the school holidays, the summer afternoons taking the buffalo to the field to graze, I alone passionately accept the moments of harmony between heaven and earth. So rush into photography to forget hunger. Now that I think about it, it still feels as hot as yesterday...
