Since the 6th grade, director Van Luong has known how to write poetry, play plays, and stories.. People still say that he is a boy who loves art and will eventually become famous in this field. But after graduating from high school, he studied pedagogy again because he hoped that job would give him time to compose poetry and literature. When he was still a student at the College of Education, he began to participate in the writing of autographs, reports, essays for the University's radio programs and articles for newspapers. After graduating, he did not teach, but worked as a reporter. He has worked for Hai Phong Newspaper since October 1980. Three years later, he returned to work as a secretary for the Secretary of the Do Son District Party Committee with the desire to go to the field to accumulate capital for later writing novels. That year, he returned to work at Hai Phong Radio and Television Station. Since returning to work at Radio Station, director Van Luong is like a fish in water, freely writing literature. He started writing scripts, working as a director of reportage, documentaries, feature films... Six months later, he attended a short training course in directing. In 1989, he was assigned to assume the position of Deputy Director of the Audiovisual Center (under Hai Phong Radio and Television Station).

After the ups and downs, in 2010, he was not appointed as Deputy Director of the radio station. Hai Phong High School, but only takes on the job of Director of the Film Studio. It was probably a big "loss" for him. But it was also this change that helped him change his mind to historical film production. That is also the reason that he and his family boldly established Vietnam Tinh Hoa Joint Stock Company. To date, director Van Luong has made more than 200 films about talented people from the coast and about the sea.
