Goldberg grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, graduating from Goucher College in 1991. At the college, he was active in student politics at Goucher and co-editor of the school newspaper. "The Quindecim" for 2 years. He later worked for Scripps Howard News Service, United Press International and several other news organizations. He also worked for a New York publishing house - Delilah Communications. After graduating, he worked as an English teacher in Prague for about a year and moved to Washington to work at the American Enterprise Institute. There he worked as a research fellow for the Wattenberg syndication and for Wattenberg's book.
In 1994, he was a founder and producer of "Wattenberg's Think Tank with Ben Wattenberg". In the same year, he moved to work for the independent television production company "New River Media" here, where he worked on a large number of television projects throughout the United States as well as in Europe. and Japan in which he produced and edited two documentaries for New River Media, "Gargoyles: Guardians of the Gate" and "Notre Dame: Witness to History"
In 1998, he officially joined National Review and ran the National Review Online (NRO) program as an editor for many years and later became editor-in-chief.
