She was allowed by her mother to join the City Children's House choir at the age of 4. In the 8th grade, Thuy Trang and two girls Nguyet Anh and Thuy Mi were selected to join the group TiMyTi. The group often performs for schools and stages in the city. During this time, she also received many invitations to advertise, take pictures or record clips.
Initially, when she sang, she took the real name Thuy Trang, but later learned that there is also a singer named Thuy Trang who specializes in folk music. She decided to take the stage name Thuy Lam, because Thuy was originally a middle name and seemed feminine, while Lam sounded stronger.
At the age of 14, she went to Germany to study because her uncle settled in the city of Halle. During the performances of English and German songs, she was discovered by the people of the Lieber Schule model school and invited to sign a contract to become the exclusive model of the Lieber school. After living at the school for more than 2 months, she moved to the main center located in Dresden. Here, Thuy Lam is trained in the knowledge of the fashion industry, diet, and professional bodybuilding. 2004. Returning to Vietnam, she attended Trung Vuong High School and participated in the singing contest Ho Chi Minh city, and won 4th prize.
In 2005, she transferred to Marie Curie High School and passed the entrance exam to the College of Arts and Culture.
