Journey to the West, whose Chinese name is 西游记, pinyin is Xī Yóu Jì, is a Chinese television series adapted from the novel of the same name by author Ngo Thua An. The film is produced by China Central Television (CCTV) in collaboration with the China Railway Administration. The film's content tells about a monk named Huyen Trang who has gone through 81 tribulations to get the Buddhist scriptures back and spread to the people.

Movie Journey to the West begins filming. from 1982 and ended in 1988. In 1986, China Central Television officially premiered the first 11 pre-recorded episodes and made this year the original release year. That's why this version is called Journey to the West 1986. After that, a sequel to this series of 16 episodes was released in 1998 and then continued to release a sequel in 1999. At the time of its broadcast in 1986, Journey to the West had an average audience rating of 89.4%, of which the audience with university degrees accounted for 8.2%.
