The movie Detective Kien: The Headless Case (directed by Victor Vu) was filmed mainly in two northern mountainous provinces, Tuyen Quang and Cao Degree. To create magical and majestic cinematic footage, the director spent half a year searching for pristine natural settings. The story opens in a mountain village where mysterious disappearances continuously occur. What terrifies people is not only the increasing number of victims but also the fact that the bodies discovered are all headless. Rumors about supernatural forces and ghost stories are spread to each other, making the atmosphere filled with fear and confusion.

Faced with a series of unanswered mysteries, detective Kien was invited to investigate the truth. With sharp reasoning ability and extensive experience in solving crimes, he gradually followed seemingly meaningless traces to find the cause behind the horrifying murders. However, the deeper he goes into the investigation, the more the main character discovers many dark secrets related to the seemingly harmless people in that small village.

The most attractive point of the work lies in the way it builds a mysterious atmosphere throughout. Viewers are constantly led between two opposing hypotheses: whether the perpetrator is a flesh-and-blood human being or whether there really exists a spiritual force behind the gruesome deaths. It is the combination of detective and horror elements that creates a special attraction, making it difficult for the audience to take their eyes off the screen until the last minutes.

The film is directed by Victor Vu, a famous director with a series of successful works such as Dreamy Eyes, Bloody Heart, Scandal or The Last Wife Together. After emotional and psychological projects, he returned to his strengths with a cinematic investigative story. Tight storytelling, well-controlled film rhythm and the ability to create a suspenseful atmosphere have helped the work receive many compliments from both experts and mass audiences.

One of the interesting points is that the character Kien originally appeared in the movie The Last Wife. Although he only played a supporting role in the previous work, the image of the intelligent, calm and upright detective left a strong impression on viewers. Realizing the development potential of this character, Victor Vu decided to build a separate story, making Kien the center of a completely new case. This is considered a bold step, contributing to expanding the cinematic world that the director has built over the years.

In terms of acting, Quoc Huy continues to take on the role of Kien and is considered the soul of the film. The actor successfully portrays the image of a sharp investigator but still has inner depth. Accompanying him is Dinh Ngoc Diep in the role of Hai Man and many familiar faces such as Tran Quoc Anh, My Uyen, Xuan Trang, Quoc Cuong and Quoc Tan. The combination of the cast helps the story become more convincing and emotional.

In addition to attractive content, images are also factors that contribute to the success of the work. Primeval forests, ancient villages and majestic mountain scenery are recreated with beautiful shooting angles, creating a space that is both poetic and gloomy. Carefully processed cinematic colors help increase the mysterious feeling and effectively support the investigative story line.

Music performed by Christopher Wong also plays an important role in building emotions. The tense melodies appearing at the right time contributed to heightening the suspense, while the quiet scenes brought psychological depth to the characters.

Immediately after its release, the film quickly became a box office phenomenon. In just the first days of release, revenue surpassed the 100 billion VND mark. The strong growth momentum continued to be maintained for many consecutive weeks, helping the work reach nearly VND 250 billion at the end of its journey in theaters. This achievement not only made the project one of the most popular Vietnamese films of the year but also set a new revenue record in Victor Vu's career.
