The Italian team's nickname is the Azzurri based on the colors of their kits and the Italian athletes. Azure Blue (azzurro, in Italian) comes from "Azzurro Savoia" (Savoi blue), which is the symbolic color of the House of Savoy, a royal family that led the unified Kingdom of Italy in 1861- 1946. This color is also the main color in the office of the President of Italy. On the badge of the Italian team, there are four stars that represent the four world championships. Italy does not have a specific home ground for international matches. Instead, the matches will take place in rotation at many stadiums throughout Italy. The Italian team's national training center is based in the Italian Football Federation in Coverciano, Florence. Europe, Italy are the 2nd place team. They have performed excellently until the last 2 matches when Northern Ireland and Switzerland need to draw. This led to them losing the top spot and having to enter the cIreland round. The sad thing is that Italy has failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after only 9 months of winning the Euro 2020. Before Italy, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, and Greece were 3 countries with sad endings when they failed to qualify for the World Cup. right after winning the Euro.
