Da Thao Phuong is the younger sister of poet Ham Anh, she graduated from the Faculty of Linguistics, General University. Like her older sister, she showed an aptitude for literature and pursued composing from an early age. After graduating, she joined Van Nghe Tu newspaper, under Van Nghe newspaper, under the Vietnam Writers Association. She worked for about 7 years until 2003. Referring to poet Da Thao Phuong, it is impossible not to mention the poem "Poem about five leaves". Da Thao Phuong said that she wrote the song when she was 17 years old, then she thought she knew all about love, only lacking in experience. However, later on, she realized that she really didn't know it well. "Nowadays, I'm aware enough that I still don't know anything about it, so I'm afraid to write love poems anymore", the author shared in an interview with VnExpress in 2005. Author Da Thao Phuong's works have been selected in general print volumes such as: "Vietnamese love poetry of the 20th century", "A collection of Vietnamese poetry 1975-2000", "Red River Hexagon - 6 Contemporary Vietnamese Poets"...
In 2008, Da Phuong Thao moved to Tokyo to live. Then she moved to many places such as Paris, Hamburg, Berlin and is currently in Nicosia (Cyprus island). In her sharing with a close friend, the female poet confided that she enjoyed a quiet life and that was also the reason why she no longer appeared on the literary scene as before.
Recently, on April 6, 2022, poet Da Thao Phuong published a long article on her personal page with the content denouncing Mr. L. N. A - Poet, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Writers' Association Nam - raped and slandered her 22 years ago. In the article, she detailed the timelines as well as the unacceptable actions of Mr. L. N. A. Currently, the lines shared by poet Da Thao Phuong are causing public uproar.
