Who is Poet Pham Tien Duat?
Pham Tien Duat is a typical Vietnamese poet during the Vietnam War period. He has been a member of the Vietnam Writers Association since 1970, after winning the first prize in the Van Nghe newspaper poetry competition. Poet Pham Tien Duat was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Art in 2001, and in 2012 received the Award Ho Chi Minh about Art and Literature. He was signed by the President of the State Nguyen Minh Triet to award the second-class Labor Medal on the same day. November 19, 2007.
When participating in combat mainly on the route Truong Son, he composed many famous poetic works. Therefore, he was praised as "the fire bird of the legendary Truong Son" or "the odd cane of the old forest", "the greatest poet of the anti-American era". His poetry often has a lively, young and mischievous tone, typically the work "East Truong Son, West Truong Son".
After the country was unified, Pham Tien Duat returned to live in Hanoi. He used to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Vietnam Writers Association. He is also the host of a program for the elderly of Vietnam Television.
Poet Pham Tien Duat died at 08:50, December 4, 2007, at 108 Central Military Hospital, after a long battle with lung cancer.

He graduated from Hanoi Pedagogical University in 1964, he joined the army, lived and fought mainly on the Truong Son route.
After the war ended, he returned to work at the Department of Culture, Vietnam Writers Association.
