Monks Thich Giac Khang profile

Who is Monks Thich Giac Khang?

The Venerable Giac Khang (whose name is To Van Vinh) is an eminent monk who spent his whole life serving Buddhism and saving suffering sentient beings. After graduating from Pedagogical College, he taught in Cai Con - Can Tho.

During his time in class, the Venerable began to learn about many different religions, especially Buddhism. From the profound teaching: "I have become a Buddha, all sentient beings are Buddhas who will become", he realized the truth of equality of Buddhism. This was an important turning point, urging him to continue studying the teachings, consulting with monks and aiming for the path of renunciation. At the same time, feeling the spirit of compassion through the teachings of vegetarianism, he vowed to be vegetarian and live a pure life.

In early 1966, Thich Giac Khang officially became a monk at the Vihara Ngoc Van, following his original Master, Virtue Trinh Giac Nhu, and received novice ordination in the same year. In July 1971, he received bhikkhu ordination at Ngoc Vien Vihara, then continued to study at the viharas of Congregation I, accompanying the monks on the path of propagating the Dharma to save sentient beings.

In 1975, he followed the group of monks and mendicants to practice religion in Ca Mau province and Bac Lieu. In 1980, the journey continued in Vinh Chau (Soc Trang).

In 1982, he returned to Ngoc Van Vihara to serve and continue his Master's career. In 1985, the Venerable Giac Nhu passed away and assigned the abbot's duties to him. Since then, during the worshiping sessions, Master Thich Giac Khang specialized in preaching about the Truth and teaching meditation, attracting many Buddhists.

The Venerable Thich Giac Khang is regularly invited to preach at many pagodas such as: Phuoc An Pagoda, Phuoc Thanh Pagoda, Thanh Quang Pagoda, Ngoc Loi Monastery...

In addition, he also participates in international pilgrimages, has been to Thailand and plans to worship relics in Myanmar, demonstrating his open spirit of learning and connecting with Buddhism.

In the last years of his life, the Venerable's health gradually weakened, but he was always enthusiastically cared for by monks and Buddhists. Realizing that his time on earth was not long, he expressed his wish to Giac Gioi - Chief of Congregation I, in order to create the best learning conditions for the Sangha and Buddhists.

At 3:00 p.m. on March 30, the year of the Snake, Thich Giac Khang peacefully passed away, ending a life of noble practice, leaving deep regret in the hearts of monks and nuns and many Buddhists near and far.
