Who is Politicians Pham Hung?
Pham Hung, born Pham Van Thien, is a Vietnamese politician. He was the second Prime Minister (Chairman of the Council of Ministers) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1987-1988). He was one of the important leaders of the communists in the South during the resistance war against the US imperialists. He was sentenced to death by the French colonialists.
At the age of 16, Pham Hung started participating in the revolution. He was active in the student movement, joined the Communist Youth Union and the Cochinchina student union. In 1930, he was admitted as a member of the Communist Party Indochina. In the same year, he was arrested by the French colonialists and sentenced to death. But because public opinion in the country and in France protested, the French government reduced his sentence to life hard labor and exiled him to Con Dao. In 1945, he was picked up by the revolutionary government and appointed as the Provisional Secretary of the Southern Party Committee.
After the outbreak of the resistance war against the French, he received the task of building the Southern police force. At the 2nd Congress of the Vietnam Labor Party in 1951, Pham Hung was elected to the Central Committee and worked at the Central Department of the South and the Administrative Resistance Committee of the Southeast.
In 1954, after the Geneva Agreement, he was appointed to the position of Head of the Vietnam People's Army Delegation under the Joint Armistice Committee in the South. The following year, he was appointed Head of the Vietnam People's Army delegation, holding the rank of Colonel. In 1976, Vietnam reunified the country. Pham Hung was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister. From 1981, changed his title to Vice Chairman of the Council of Chiefs. He also concurrently held the position of Minister of Home Affairs in place of Tran Quoc Hoan. From June 1987, he was elected to the position of Chairman of the Council of Ministers and held this position until his death.
Pham Hung died suddenly on 10/3/1988 at Tp. Ho Chi Minh, then he was still in office. His memorial was built near the city Vinh Long, near Ong Me bridge. Pham Hung's name is named for a street in Hanoi.

He married Mrs. Huynh Thi Ni. They gave birth to four children, Pham Hoang Hung, Pham Hoang Ha, Pham Mai Hong, and Pham Mai Huong.
