In 1929, painter Hoang Tich Chu was studying in a preparatory class at the Fine Arts College dropped out of school because of difficult family circumstances. In 1936, he passed the exam in the 11th class of the Indochina Fine Arts College, studying in the same course with many famous painters such as Bui Trang Chuoc, Nguyen Van Ty, Nguyen Tien Chung... In 1941, he graduated and opened a studio at Hang Khoai Street - Hanoi. In 1944, he was the head of the department, in charge of the makeup for actors of the Dong Phuong theater department. After 1945, Hoang Tich Chu returned to work as a lecturer at Hanoi Fine Arts College. At the Golden Week Festival, Hoang Tich Chu introduced the great oil painting "Night of the Lanterns" to the entire audience and guests present in the program.
During the years of national resistance, Mr. returned home to actively draw propaganda pictures and teach short classes in the army. In 1953, he was imprisoned by the French colonialists for participating in secret activities.
After the country was unified, painter Hoang Tich Chu returned to work as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Fine Arts.
