Son of the 27th US president and Senate Republican from Ohio who was a leader for a decade and a half but never fulfilled his presidential ambitions. He served the art of leading a Senate majority in 1953.
Elected to the Senate in 1938, he staunchly supported the Republican cause, denounced FDR's New Deal, and with rise of Nazi Germany, arguing for American isolationism.
