She started singing in choirs when she was three years old. At the age of twelve, she began writing music as a way to cope with the traumatic events of losing her family home due to financial hardship. She always knew she wanted to sing professionally.
She was born and raised in Buffalo, NY as the oldest of five children born to Pastor Lee Allen, Jr. and Michelle Spot. Her father was a guitarist, singer and preacher with his uncle and he was also a preacher. She and her three sisters formed a singing group called The Sisters Spotlight when Alexis was only eight years old.
