Since childhood, Thien Ly was sent to a Vietnamese-French bilingual school by her family; When she was in 9th grade, she went to France to interact with the French for 3 weeks in a cultural exchange program between Vietnam and France. During her years as a student, Thien Ly was always a good and good student; When she was in the 11th grade, she went to the US to study and live as a boarding school at Athenian High School, Northern California.
After finishing high school, she continued to study at Saint Mary's University in the US, majoring in Communication.
In 2008, she participated in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 pageant held at Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang; in the final night she excellently won the 2nd runner-up position along with the title of Miss Photo at the contest.
