Who is Vietnamese Emperor Ly Hue Tong?
Ly Hue Tong was the 8th king of the Ly dynasty in Vietnamese history. He ruled the country from 1210 to 1224. He was the eldest son of King Ly Cao Tong and queen Dam. His real name is Ly San or Ly Hao Sam.

In 1209, Ly Cao Tong listened to the false orders of the god Pham Du, so he ordered the murder of his loyal servant Pham Binh Di. Pham Binh Di's general, Quach Boc, was too merciful, so he left the army to avenge his master, attacked the citadel, and established the king's second son, Ly Tham, as king. King Ly Cao Tong fled to Quy Hoa. Prince Sam, his mother and two younger sisters retreated to Hai Ap where Tran Ly ruled. Crown Prince Sam was established as king by To Trung Tu and Tran Ly, with the title Thang Vuong. Crown Prince Sam saw that Tran Thi Dung - Tran Ly's daughter was beautiful, so he got married. Thanks to that, Tran Ly was ordained to the position of Minh Tu, while To Trung Tu was appointed to the position of the pre-commander.

After hearing that Crown Prince Sam established his own court and ordained an official Tran. Ly and To Trung Tu, King Ly Cao Tong wanted to defeat him. Ly Cao Tong sent Pham Du to contact Doan Thuong and Doan Van Loi in the Hong area. But Pham Du was killed by the army of the captain Bac Giang Nguyen Nai and Nguyen Nau.

Tran Ly and To Trung Hau brought troops to the citadel to quell the rebellion of Quach Boc to give credit to the Ly dynasty. At the end of 1209, Quach Boc's army was defeated. Tran Ly died in battle, so To Trung Tu welcomed Cao Tong back to the palace. Cao Tong did not know who to rely on, so he relied on Trung Tu's influence. At the beginning of 1210, Cao Tong was sick and sent someone to welcome Prince Sam back to the palace. In October of the same year, Ly Cao Tong died, Crown Prince Sam ascended the throne to take the title Ly Hue Tong. He sent To Trung Tu and Pham Bo to welcome Tran Thi Dung and the palace, set up a concubine, and made Trung Tu the main Thai lieutenant. Tran Thi Dung's brother, Tran Tu Khanh, was appointed Marquis of Chuong Thanh.

Not long after King Cao Tong died, there was a turmoil in the court. To Trung Tu was autocratic in the imperial court. In December 1210, Do Kinh Tu, on the mandate of King Cao Tong, plotted to kill Trung Tu but failed, Trung Tu captured and killed at Dai Thong. After that, the servant Do The Quy sent an army to assassinate Trung Tu, but it also failed and was killed.

In July 1211, To Trung Tu was communicating with the princess Thien Cu when her husband was killed. of the lord is Vuong Thuong killed. To Trung Tu's son-in-law, Nguyen Ma La, was killed by his general, Nguyen Trinh. Tran Thua plans to kill Nguyen Trinh. When Tran Tu Khanh saw that the citadel was vacant, he brought his troops to the capital, and To Trung Tu was buried in Hoach village. Hue Tong heard from Doan Thuong and Doan Van Loi that Tran Tu Khanh wanted to bring troops back to the court to plot the overthrow of the monarchy, so he issued a decree to beat Tran Tu Khanh and demoted Tran Thi Dung to be a royal woman.

The Ly dynasty under King Ly Hue Tong began to show signs of extinction. After Tran Tu Khanh died, Tran Thu Do came to power. In 1224, Hue Tong was seriously ill. He divided the country into 24 roads, divided it among the princesses and Phong Tran Thu Do to become the chief of the palace. But then was forced by Tran Thu Do to cede the throne to his daughter Ly Chieu Hoang.

Not long after Ly Chieu Hoang ascended the throne, the king ceded the throne to her husband, Tran Canh Tran Thai Tong, grandson of Tran Thu Do. The Ly Dynasty was lost to Tran in 1225. In 1266, Tran Thu Do forced Ly Hue Tong to enter Chan Giao Temple. On August 10, 1226, Ly Hue Tong committed suicide, died at the age of 33. Tran Thu Do cremated his body and gave the ashes to the tower of Bao Quang pagoda to worship, and the temple was named Hue Tong.
