Proposal of modern architecture and partner in the firm Skidmore, Owings & amp; Merrill, where he was hired in 1937; he will spend more than 40 years at the company, during which time he will design the Lever House, the Yale University Beinecke Rare Book and Document Library, and the Washington, DC Hirshhorn Museum and Garden Sculpture.
He was awarded the 1980 American Institute of Architects' 25th Anniversary Prize for Lever House and the 1988 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
