David Nop (real name Pham Trung Hieu, other stage name is Gnob) is a Rapper and TikToker famous for his humorous songs and videos with positive messages. The guy Ta Oi who writes Rap is better known to the audience when he participated in the show Rap Viet season 4. He was chosen by Coach Suboi to join the team and had many songs that impressed the audience.
Recently, David Nop and his brother, Lieutenant Pham Duc Huynh (propaganda officer of A Luoi 1 Commune Police, Hue City) made a traffic propaganda clip that made netizens laugh. The clip quickly reached more than 2.2 million views and more than 4.5 thousand shares after being posted on the social networking site of A Luoi Commune Police 1. Netizens expressed their excitement thanks to the witty content but still conveying the message of propagandizing the Law on Order and road traffic safety.
From A Luoi to the streets looking for opportunities
After graduating from high school, Trung Hieu left his hometown of A Luoi to go to the city to look for job opportunities. He used to do many jobs to make a living such as: running a coffee table, working as a tea room employee, being a shipper...
In 2020, Hieu stopped working to return to his hometown to join the army. After completing his military service in 2023, he once again "descended the mountain", continuing to find his direction.
The relationship with content creation and the name David Nop
The turning point came when Trung Hieu had the opportunity to cooperate with Highlight, a fashion brand in Hue, in a project to create humorous content on TikTok. The charm of a highland boy combined with the way he creates witty and friendly situations helps Hieu's videos quickly attract attention. From here, the nickname David Nom gradually became familiar to the online community.
After leaving Highlight, Hieu did not give up content creation. He continues to be active on digital platforms, mainly TikTok and Facebook, looking for new ways of expression to connect with audiences.
One of the content that makes David Nop's unique mark is parody - parodying the voices and styles of famous singers and rappers in humorous but very real-life situations.
The special point is that the videos do not need stories that are too far-fetched. Hieu exploits familiar situations in life, then turns them into entertainment content with his humorous perspective.
David Nom and his transformation into rapper GNOB
If David Nop is the name associated with funny videos on social networks, GNOB represents another Trung Hieu: serious, personable and ambitious in music. GNOB became more widely known to the audience when appearing on Rap Viet.
Born and raised in A Luoi in the Ta Oi community, Hieu grew up in a very special music space. In his family, relatives and the community where he lives, many people know how to play musical instruments such as guitar and drums and used to form "neighborhood bands" and "village bands" together.
Music nights during holidays, Tet or relatives' performances have become unforgettable memories for Hieu.
Even when each person grows up and separates because of work and family, every time there is an opportunity to converge, music becomes the thread that pulls everyone back together. Perhaps it was that environment that instilled in Hieu a special love for music.
Hieu approached hip-hop quite early. When he was young, he, his brother and friends in the area practiced B-boy dancing in the unique way of highland children. Not having full access to hip-hop culture like in big cities, Hieu's group of friends mainly learns through videos and films about hip-hop.
After school, children with similar interests gather, watch videos, learn new movements and practice together. From those spontaneous practice sessions, Hieu gradually became fascinated by the spirit of freedom, the strength of words and the unique techniques of rap. Over time, listening to rap turned into playing rap, then writing music and seriously pursuing the path of a rapper.
