Who is Ca tru artist Quach Thi Ho?
Ms. Quach Thi Ho is a famous Vietnamese ca tru artist. She was conferred the title of People's Artist by the State in 1998. People's Artist Quach Thi Ho was the first ca tru artist to bring this art abroad.
Before the August Revolution, she was a famous peach lady. However, at that time, ca tru was considered a remnant of feudalism, that's why many artisans left the profession. But artist Quach Thi Ho is still devoted to the art of ca tru. In 1976, Professor Tran Van Khe met with Ca Tru artists. He recorded the singing of artist Quach Thi Ho and introduced it to the world.
In 1978, the UNESCO International Music Council and the International Institute for Music Studies awarded artisan Quach Thi Ho with an honorary degree for "preserving a precious traditional art heritage of Vietnam, a precious treasure of mankind". Also from here, the art of Ca Tru of Vietnam was restored and is known as one of the precious heritages of Vietnam and humanity.
In 1983, the recording of her singing representing the Vietnamese singer Ca Tru was ranked first at the International Festival of Traditional Asian Music in Pyongyang (North Korea).
In 1984, she participated in the documentary The Art of Ca Tru by director Ngo Dang Tuat and reunited with other famous artists in the profession such as Nguyen Thi Phuc, Nguyen Thi Hao, Chu Van Du, .. honored to become a typical Vietnamese ca tru artist.
On January 4, 2001, she died in Hanoi, at the age of 92.

From a young age, People's Artist Quach Thi Ho grew up with her mother's singing voice. When she was growing up, her mother taught her how to sing. At the age of 6, she followed her mother to perform.
In 1930, she went to Hanoi to sing, then owned the Van Thai Theater on Bach Mai Street. After the August Revolution, and then the resistance against the French, she sang in Vinh Yen, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen.
In 1954, when peace was restored in the North, she worked as a collaborator for the recitation column of the Voice of Vietnam Radio.
