Nguyen Thi Huong Giang was born in Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An , in a family with a long-standing art tradition. The eldest brother is People's Artist An Phuc, famous artist in the performing world.

At the age of 21, Huong Giang volunteered to join the Archbishop of Military Region 9. Six years of operation here helped her to accumulate many valuable experiences. After that, she continued to work for 7 years with the Military Music Dance Theater, affirming her position in the revolutionary and folk music.
