Who is Artist Tran Ngoc Vien?
Tran Ngoc Vien, also known as Miss Ba Vien, is an artist who founded the once famous female vocal troupe named Dong Nu Ban.
During the resistance war against the French, she enthusiastically established the Dong Nu Ban theater troupe, taking on many roles at once, but most prominently the role of the choir and the director. The French colonialists many times looked down and prevented the troupe from touring, but with the ingenuity of Mrs. Ba Vien, the troupe was also performed in many places and resonated well.
In mid-1928, Mrs. Ba Vien and the Dong Nu Ban troupe performed the first play "Loyalty Blood" at Ba Lung Bridge, Vinh Kim Commune. Ganh singing was warmly welcomed by the people.
By mid-1929, due to intense persecution by the enemy, the Dong Nu Ban singing troupe had to be disbanded. Ba Vien returned to her brother's house, Mr. Bay Trieu, to live a pure life. Here, she wholeheartedly raised her grandchildren Tran Van Khe, Tran Van Trach, Tran Thi Mong Trung...
On August 25, 1944, Ms. Tran Ngoc Vien passed away at the age of 60.

As a child, Ba Vien loved to sing and play. She knows many melodies, knows how to play many types of musical instruments, but the most skillful are the zither (dan Tranh) and the Pi Ba. She was introduced to Saigon by Mr. Diep Van Cuong, a relative of the family, to teach the piano at Ao Tim girls' school (ie Former Gia Long, now a school Nguyen Thi Minh Khai a>).
