Artist Van Toan

Artist Van Toan is a familiar face to national television audiences. He was an actor at the same time as famous artists such as: Trinh Trinh, Pham Bang, Tran Hanh.... In addition to acting, he also composes music and creates stages. Although he was born into a family without an artistic cradle, he soon fell in love with acting in the 1960s.

Artist Van Toan's name is associated with gentle roles, sincerity in dramas, stage plays or comedy skits. Few people know that, when he was young, he hesitated to choose whether to join the army, work as a worker or sing Cai Luong... He even considered becoming a player for the national team. The Cong. However, he later decided to enter the Drama School and became one of the first Drama students in the country's arts. In 2000, he retired.

After retiring, artist Van Toan continued his artistic activities. He was invited to participate in comedy skits and mass movement activities. He once joked that he feels younger every time he performs. Meeting his friends and colleagues again made him feel very happy. But since he got sick and his hearing deteriorated, he was no longer able to perform. He proactively withdrew to avoid embarrassing the directors. Looking back on his artistic journey, he feels that he no longer has any regrets, because he has dabbled in films and plays, and has devoted himself to the country's arts.

Artist Van Toan gave birth to three children, including two daughters and one son. His children have all grown up, married and given him lovely grandchildren. He is happy that his children did not follow their father's career, because he still believes that "acting is very difficult, I don't know when I will get better". His children growing up and being successful are also the greatest comfort to him.

He has been retired for more than 20 years and is currently living with his second son's family. For nearly 10 years, he has had ear problems. Every time he wanted to talk, he had to write it down on paper or text it over the phone. When he first started showing signs of illness, his children and grandchildren took him for examination and treatment, but the doctor said it was an old age disease and his hearing loss was due to his health, so he took medicine but it didn't help. Whenever he has free time, he often reads books and learns folk remedies. From the remedies he read, he helped many people. He did not remember how many people he helped, nor did he receive gifts or money. He felt happy because of the thank you messages sent to him by patients.
