Jane Alexander is an American actress, author, and former director of Endowment for the Arts. In her acting career, she has won a Tony Award and two Emmy Awards.
Jane Alexander began her career on Broadway in 1968, with a role in "The Great White Hope" and received won the Tony Award for "The Unconventional Actor in a Play", in 1969. Other Broadway plays by actress Jane Alexander include: "6 Rms Riv Vu" (1972), "The Night" of the Iguana" (1988), "The Sisters Rosensweig" (1993) and "Honour" (1998). She has received a total of seven Tony Award nominations and was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1994.
She rose to fame as a movie star at the time for her role in "The Great White Hope" debuted in 1970. The role in "The Great White Hope" helped actress Jane Alexander receive 4 Academy Award nominations. Jane Alexander's next Academy Award nominations came from her roles in "All the President's Men" (1976), "Kramer vs Kramer" (1979) and "Testament" (1983). She has received eight Emmy Award nominations and won her first one for her performance as Eleanor Roosevelt in "Eleanor and Franklin" (1976). She also received two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her roles in "Time" (1980) and "Warm Springs" (2005).
Jane Alexander released the two books are: "Off Season" and "The John Updike Audio Collection CD".
