He produced the claymation film Davey and Goliath sponsored by the Lutheran Church in America.
With the help of his wife Ruth, he created Gumby and Pokey and their first appearances on the show Howdy Doody. Then they got their own show called Adventures of Gumby.
He was born Arthur Charles Farrington in Detroit, Michigan. After his parents divorced and the death of his father, he went to live with his mother in California, but ended up in an orphanage after refusing from his stepfather. He was adopted by composer Joseph W. Clokey.
