In 1952, he started working in the troupe, at first Manh Tuan was only assigned to preserve the props for the troupe. But because of his passion, he always self-explored and learned, he taught himself drumming and cheo rhythms. He is also fortunate to be guided by famous rowing artists such as Nam Ngu and Tu Lien.

He was born into a poor, large family, his mother died early when he was only 3 months old. His father walked again, so since childhood he lived in the situation of stepmother and son-in-law.
