One of the most successful Irish comics of the 20th century. He found success in film with his role in Moondance, on television in Father Ted, and in music with a number 1 hit.
From his first unwilling performance, after being pushed into a calm stage by a very suspenseful crowd, he began a legendary comic, performing with the likes of Frank Sinatra, John Denver, and others.

He dropped out of school at the age of 15 to support his family, but still found time to form his own band, The Gingerman, and tour around Ireland singing folk songs.
