Award-winning Canadian actor and comedian who was an actor on the Canadian syndicated television sketch program SCTV. He is known for playing Doug McKenzie, the beer-drinking co-host of "Great White North" in a series of sketches popularized on SCTV. He has also acted in the films Bob & amp; Doug and Strange Brew, which he also directed.
He directed John Travolta in the 1989 comedy The Professionals, while working with Paramount.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario before working at various advertising agencies, including a writing position with Coca-Cola. In the end, he again advertised to join Second City.
