He composed his first tango when he was only eleven years old. Four years later, he made his professional debut with an orchestra in his hometown of Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Born in Argentina to Italian parents Asunta Manetti and Vicente Piazzolla, he spent most of his early career in New York City, USA marrying his first, to Dede Wolff, resulting in children named Daniel and Diana.
