Who is Critical realist writer Nam Cao?
Nam Cao's real name is Tran Huu Tri, his other pseudonyms are Nam Cao, Thuy Ru, Xuan Du, and Nguyet. He was a major realist writer and a resistance journalist. He is considered one of the most representative writers in Vietnam in the 20th century. In the first half of the 20th century, Writer Nam Cao was instrumental in perfecting the style of short stories and novels. The pseudonym Nam Cao is a combination of two letters from the name of the province and district of his hometown.
At the age of 18, Nam Cao began to write his first short stories such as "The Last Scene", "Two Bodies". His works are published in the weekly Novel Saturday. Some short story works of writer Nam Cao were printed in Ich Huu newspaper such as: Poor, Withered Petals, Blind Blindness, A chivalrous lady with the pseudonym Thuy Ru. With the pen of Xuan Du, Nguyet, he composed the short story "Death of the Squid", which was printed in Hanoi Tan Van newspaper and was also published in poetry in this newspaper.
In 1941, under the pseudonym Nam Cao, he published his first collection of stories "A couple worthy of a couple" with the title in the manuscript "Old brick kiln" which was published by Hanoi New Life Publishing House. Later, when reprinted, writer Nam Cao changed the name of the story to Chi Pheo. The work "Chi Pheo" as a literary phenomenon at that time.
In 1943, writer Nam Cao released the work "Leadership life". This work belongs to the genre of critical realism literature, and realistically depicts the society and human life at that time. This is also one of the famous works and is included in the literary program.

In 1946, Nam Cao went to Hanoi to work in the National Salvation Cultural Association. After that, he went to the South as a reporter.
In the fall of 1947, Nam Cao went to Viet Bac to work as a secretary for the editorial office of the Viet Bac newspaper Cuu Quoc Viet Bac.
In May 1951, Nam Cao and writer Nguyen Huy Tuong attended a cultural conference at Inter-zone 3. After that, the two men went back to work in Inter-zone 4.
