Who is Critical realist writer Nguyen Cong Hoan?
Nguyen Cong Hoan is a typical writer of critical realist literature in Vietnam. During his writing career, he left behind more than 200 short stories, nearly 30 long stories and many literary essays.
Writer Nguyen Cong Hoan started composing when he was not yet 20 years old. His first work called "Kien Hong Nhan" was written in 1920. This work was written by Tan Da prostitute and published in 1923.
In 1927, he wrote the book Kep Tu Ben, and in 1935 the work was published. After this work was known to the public, it immediately caused a stir in the literature, and was the subject of debate of two artistic views at that time.
From 1945-1950, writer Nguyen Cong Hoan participated in writing articles for newspapers such as: Military Studies newspaper, People's Education newspaper. He is also the editor of textbooks and Vietnamese history books, used for 9th graders.
After 1954, Nguyen Cong Hoan assumed the position of Chairman of the first Vietnam Writers Association from 1957-1958. He is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers' Association, a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts, and the chairman of the weekly Van newspaper (the predecessor of the Van Nghe newspaper).
June 6, 1977, writer Nguyen Cong Hoan passed away.
