Notable for his documentary The World of Safari goes, this adventurer embodies his conservation philosophy in his work. In addition to his successful film, he has published a book co-titled Alby Mangels' Safari World and is the subject of Lynn Santer's biography Beyond the Safari World.
Mostly unplanned, the risky expedition depicted in his famous film resulted in, in some cases, serious injury to his companions. While filming World Safari II, for example, Mangels' friend and fellow explorer Piers Soutier suffered an accident that left him paralyzed and ultimately resulted in his death.
