Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Van Tung (Doctor Tung) is Director of Thien Nam Oriental Medicine Company Limited (Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province), and is also a lecturer at Khanh Hoa Medical College. A poor childhood nurtured the dream of becoming a doctor
Doctor Tung was born in 1973 into a large family with difficult economic circumstances in the Son Hoa new economic zone. It was his years of childhood deprivation that helped him soon form the will to excel by studying and nurturing his desire to become a doctor to help people in similar situations.
Ever since he was a medical student, he actively participated in free medical examination and medicine distribution programs and determined that volunteering activities would be an inseparable part of his career.
Sticking with traditional medicine and building Thien Nam Oriental medicine
After graduating from medical university and realizing his dream of becoming a doctor, in 1998, Dr. Tung moved to Nha Trang to live and work at a traditional medicine facility belonging to the St. Joseph order - a place specializing in charitable medical examination and treatment for people.
Ten years of working here not only helped him accumulate professional experience but also created opportunities to learn from many traditional medicine facilities at home and abroad. Since then, he has cherished the desire to research and prepare traditional medicinal products to support the treatment of more patients, especially those in difficult circumstances.
In 2005, he founded Thien Nam Oriental Medicine Company Limited, operating in the field of research and production of oriental medicine remedies and health protection foods. Under his management, the company not only develops production activities but also accompanies many community health care programs.
A persistent volunteer journey for the poor
In parallel with business management, Doctor and Doctor Nguyen Van Tung devotes a lot of enthusiasm to volunteer activities.
For many years, he has provided medicine for thousands of poor patients in remote areas through mobile medical examination programs, "Village Doctors" and many humanitarian activities carried out by organizations inside and outside the province.
Doctor Tung also regularly donates free medicine to Khanh Hoa Provincial Oriental Medicine Association, Provincial Veterans Association and many other volunteer organizations. Just counting the source of supporting medicine for about 10 years, the total value has exceeded 3 billion VND.
Three free clinics for people in need
Doctor Nguyen Van Tung built a system of three clinics specializing in Thien Nam traditional medicine in the city. Nha Trang.
Clinics regularly provide free examination and treatment for the poor, children under 6 years old, people with disabilities and cases in particularly difficult circumstances. On average each year, about 2,000 patients receive free examination and treatment support.
Many patients have had the opportunity to access traditional medicine treatments without having to worry about the cost burden, contributing to improving health and quality of life.
Investment in developing medicinal areas
Not stopping at medical examination and treatment, Dr. Nguyen Van Tung also invested in building a traditional medicinal plant farm in Dien Son commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province.
The farm has an area of about 40,000 m², is oriented to become a place to preserve, research and develop clean medicinal resources, as well as a place to visit and study for future doctors, physicians and medical students.
This is considered a step to contribute to the sustainable development of raw materials for traditional medicine Vietnam.

In addition to being a doctor and businessman, Nguyen Van Tung is also a lecturer at Khanh Hoa Medical College.
During the teaching process, he always focuses on imparting professional knowledge associated with professional ethics, encouraging students to constantly learn and maintain the spirit of serving patients.
For his contributions in training, he was granted a National Excellent Teacher Certificate by the Ministry of Education and Training.
