Family and starting career
In 2009, at the age of 17 and was in grade 12, Xuan Cuong decided to pursue a professional football career. This decision encountered objections from family, teachers and friends, due to concerns about the uncertain future in this field. Despite the initial difficulties, he persisted in pursuing his passion and started training with the U19 Thanh Hoa team. Initially, he had to go on his own from Tinh Gia to Thanh Hoa city to practice, passing a distance of 30 km a day. After three years of training, at the end of 2012 Xuan Cuong was taken to the first team by coach Trieu Quang Ha.

period 2012–2015 : Xuan Cuong was promoted to the first team of Thanh Hoa in late 2012, but was not registered to play in V. League. He moved to the Second -class V&V to find opportunities to play.

2015 : He played for Dong Thap on loan, accumulated experience and affirmed his ability.

In the period of 2017–2023 : Returning to FLC Thanh Hoa (later Dong A Thanh Hoa), Xuan Cuong gradually affirmed its position in the main squad and made an important contribution to the team.
