Julius Yego fell in love with javelin throwing after watching the videos of the legend Jan Zelezny on Youtube. At the age of 10, Jan Zelezny made himself a javelin out of wooden floorboards to compete with his schoolmates.
Julius Yego applied for admission but did not have enough tuition so he could not train. repertoires. At the World Junior Athletics Championships in Poland, Julius Yego could not participate due to lack of funds.
In a talent search to award a scholarship in Finland in 2008, Julius Yego wowed the recruiters when he mastered the basic skills learned on Youtube.
