In the early 1970s, Scott's writing career began as a sports journalist for The Intelligencer in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. In 1975, he became sports editor and prospective writer for the News-Herald in Perkasie, a position he held for the next five years. He later worked as a journalist, public health writer, television series writer at The Free Press in Quakertown and an editor of a weekly entertainment magazine.
In 1981, when Free Press publication Charles Meredith III underwent quadruple surgery, Scott received permission to observe the operation directly on Meredith's chest. He then wrote an award-winning series of articles for The Free Press which was later turned into a series of stories that appeared in Philadelphia Magazine in October 1981.
During the summer of 1983, he accepted invitation to write to producer, director Mike Tollin and Gary Cohen of Halcyon Days Productions he wrote for the USFL, a weekly special about the American football association that airs on ABC from 1983 to 1985. When the USFL disbanded, Scott remained with Halcyon Days Productions for many years as a showrunner and freelance writer. Scott has also been an integral character on many shows and appeared on numerous other videos including Men of October, Legacy, The Best of the USFL and Michael Bolton's Winning Softball. In the late 1980s, Scott wrote more than 1,000 radio articles for John Madden's Sports Quiz, John Madden's Sports Calendar and Bob Costas' Sports Flashback' and wrote for television about baseball and the industries Industry VCR / DVD
Then, in 1988, Jeff Scott joined Major League Baseball Production (MLB P), where he was considered a writer for the Major League Baseball magazine ESPN - one of the the nascent first independently produced show. Over the next four years Scott wrote 176 episodes of a popular and widely broadcast show narrated by Warner Fusselle. He began writing articles for This Week in Baseball - the longest running sports team program in television history - in 1992. When the Baseball Commissioner's office returned to MLB Productions in 1999 Scott began writing. for Buzz Brainard, who will cover TWIB for 11 seasons, where he wrote 450 consecutive episodes until the 2011 season off and for other shows like MLB Network, MLB162,... .
From 1988 to 2014 (except 1999) Scott wrote articles for several other weekly shows and official films for The World Series Films, in which he wrote and directed the voice acting. for these films.
Scott played a major role in the birth of the YES Network, NBC Sports, MLB Network, and Fox Sports 1 by writing new programming that attracted large audiences.
