The son of a teacher and pianist; Snow won a Winchester Church choir scholarship, spending five years at Pilgrims' School.
He then studied at St Edward's School, Oxford. When he was 18 years old, he became a VSO volunteer teacher in Uganda.
After his own efforts, he became a Law student at the University of Liverpool however he did not complete his studies. After leaving Liverpool, Snow worked at New Horizon Youth Center - a center for homeless young people in central London, later becoming its President.
Since 1983. until 1986 he was a Washington ITN correspondent and a foreign affairs editor before becoming the main presenter of Channel 4 News in 1989. By 1992, he was the main presenter on election night. ITN broadcasts on ITV.
He won several RTS awards, the award for best presenter, the award for television journalist of the year 1980.
In 2002, he returned as a human. radio host Jon Snow on Oneword Radio, a weekly program. He regularly writes articles for Channel 4 News website and Snowmail. In 2004, Snow published an autobiography "Shooting History".
