Journalist and writer Nguyen Van Vinh is considered "the father of journalism. In 1931, journalist Nguyen Van Vinh founded the newspaper "L'Annam Nouveau" (New South Country) printed in French, in order to defend the doctrine of Trucism that he proposed. In 1936, the newspaper "L'Annam Nouveau" won the GRAND PRIX prize at the Colonial Press Fair held in Paris.
Journalist Nguyen Van Vinh died on 02/03. May 1936, because of malaria and dysentery. His body was brought to Hanoi by Freemasonry for the funeral from May 6-8, 1936.
