Writer Hoang Binh Trong is from Thanh Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.
Member of the Vietnam Writers' Association (1981).
From a peasant family, his father moved to Saigon to work as a French translator for the Luc Lo agency. After the August Revolution, his whole family moved back to their hometown and followed the resistance. Life on the river, he has traveled to many places, lived in many rural areas on the land Quang Binh, Ha Tinh. When his mother died early, Hoang Binh Trong sometimes had to go to an orphanage. He was influenced more or less by the bohemian life of his father.
Hoang Binh Trong writes mainly novels and short stories, composed a few poems, but each article has a strong vibe with readers. In addition, he also translated some stories from Russian.
He is currently living in Quang Binh.

Writer Hoang Binh Trong is a geological engineer, graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, then went to the Soviet Union to work as a PhD student.
He used to be an intermediate teacher. 2A Mao Khe geology. After that, he joined the army to participate in the battlefields of the South and Laos.
He changed his profession to work as a prose editor of Dat To magazine (Vinh Phu). He used to hold the position of Vice Chairman of Vinh Phu Provincial Arts Council.
Since 1993, he has been staying in Quang Binh.
