- Writer Nguyen Xuan Hoang is an alumnus of Vo Tanh (Nha Trang), a former student of Petrus Ky (Saigon). He graduated from Pedagogical University, Faculty of Philosophy, University Institute Da Lat (1958-1961)
- In 1961-1962, he taught Philosophy at Ngo Quyen High School in Bien Hoa, then taught at Pétrus Ky School in Saigon (1962-1975).
- He worked as a magazine general secretary. Chi Van, Saigon (1972-1974)
- In 1985, he came to the United States and settled in San Jose. After that, he worked as General Secretary of Nguoi Viet Daily, California (1986-1997) and General Secretary of 21st Century magazine, California (1989-1994) under Nguoi Viet Company.
- In 1994 , he worked on the editorial board of Van Hoc magazine.
- Since September 1996, he has been the editor-in-chief and editor of Van magazine, as well as general secretary of the weekly Viet Mercury under the Daily. San Jose Mercury News of the United States (November 1998 to November 2005).
- He is a lecturer in Contemporary Vietnamese Literature at Berkeley University (September 2001-April 2003). ).
