The series first aired on JTBC on April 26, 2023 and is broadcast every Wednesday and Thursday at 22:30 (KST). The film is also broadcast on the Netflix online platform in some countries such as Vietnam.
The film's content is about the character Young-Soon (played by Ra Mi-Ran) who is a woman. Single mother works as a pig farm manager. She doesn't want her son Kang-Ho to do the same job as her when he grows up. Kang-Ho (played by Lee Do-Hyun) has worked hard to study and become a prosecutor, but he has a cold personality. In the process of pursuing his career and keeping it a secret, he refused to accept his mother Young-soon. One day, Kang-Ho had an unexpected accident that left him like a child. He has returned to his hometown and started a new life with his lousy mother Young-soon. Meanwhile, Mi-Joo (played by Ahn Eun-Jin) is Kang-Ho's childhood friend who is a warm-hearted girl. When the two meet again, Mi-joo's life is completely changed.
Despite the late broadcast, The Good Bad Mother still sets a new rating record with episode 8 viewership surpassing 8.4% nationwide. In fact, the new episode didn't even have as many climaxes as the previous one, but it did set a new personal record for the drama, with ratings in the capital Seoul even reaching 9.5%. In episode 8 of the drama, the scene that made the audience's heart flutter the most was when Mrs. Young Soon (Ra Mi Ran) continued to teach her son the necessary things to be able to live independently in the future. Due to terminal stomach cancer, Young Soon knows she won't live long and even prepares for her own funeral. The scene where Mrs. Young Soon teaches Kang Ho how to kneel to greet the mourner in front of her own photo makes viewers unable to hold back tears. If in episode 7, Young Soon had tears in her eyes, but in episode 8, she showed a different emotion. The scene where Young Soon quietly rehearses her own funeral with her son Kang Ho brings a haunting feeling of heartbreak. When she lowered her head to the ground, Young Soon had a few seconds of trembling almost crying but when she stood up, her expression had stabilized, once again showing Ra Mi Ran's great acting.
