An American novelist, he is best known for Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The popular books were the inspiration for Wicked, a very successful Broadway musical.
In 1987, nearly a decade before the publication of his most famous book, he founded a nonprofit called Children's New England Literature.
