Who is Painter Le Van Mien?
Le Van Mien was a painter and a great teacher of the Vietnamese nation for two centuries.
At the age of 6, Le Van Mien was taught by her father, Bachelor Le Huy Nghiem. After his father was appointed as the Coach of Quang Dien district and many officials in many places, Le Van Mien was sent by his father to follow him. When the French colonialists finished pacifying Vietnam, to implement the policy of demagoguery, some young people chose to study at the Colonial School in Paris. The purpose of the French colonialists was to train high-ranking officials who were loyal to them. Among the selected young people was Le Van Mien's brother, Le Huy Than, but because Le Van Than was determined not to go, Mr. Le Huy Nghiem let Le Van Mien go instead. Because Le Van Mien was only 14 years old at that time, he had to lie for 2 more years to be old enough to go to school. Despite being the smallest, Le Van Mien proved to be a talented but also stubborn person and clearly showed his bravery and personality. He initiated and led the students of the colonies to stand up for the class, leading to the war of the Colonial Ministry.
After graduating from the Colonial School, Le Van Mien applied to attend the College of Fine Arts. Paris, the school was considered the prestigious of European Fine Arts at that time. Because he had previously lost sympathy, Le Van Mien was monitored and suppressed by the French colonialists. However, he still overcame everything to study well in oil painting, pastels, pencils, architecture, sculpture… He graduated with distinction and was selected by the School Art Council to come to Italy to paint for the court. Vatican City, but was opposed by the Minister of Colonies. In 1895, Le Van Mien returned home with two prestigious degrees in France. In 899, the French-Vietnamese school was established in Vinh, and Le Van Mien was appointed as the school's principal. Three years later, Dao Tan received the position of Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Affairs, he brought Le Van Mien to work at the Ministry under his charge.
After King Thanh Thai's plot to prepare to fight the French was revealed, Le Van Mien was revealed. was pushed back to Nghe An to hold the position of Catholicism. He returned to Hue Quoc Hoc School to teach French and draw from 1907-1913. In 1913, Hau Bo School was established, he was appointed "Assistant Teacher" and was promoted to "Academy of Thi Vai". In 1914, he was promoted to Deputy Catholic, in 1919 he held the position of Catholic, or Principal of the school. In 1921, he held the position of Te Tuu (Principal) of Quoc Tu Giam School and held this position until 1929.
During his painting career, Le Van Mien is famous for his painting "Binh Van", the painting displayed at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum was badly damaged.
