Who is Poet Du Tu Le?
Du Tu Le real name is Le Cu Phach, is a Vietnamese poet residing in Southern California, USA.
Poet Du Tu Le started composing when he was in primary school, when he entered the South he continuously composed and used many different pseudonyms. In 1958, he composed the work "Ben of the soul" under the pseudonym Du Tu Le. This is the first work signed under the pseudonym Du Tu Le, and has been published in Mai magazine.
In 1973, poet Du Tu Le was awarded the National Literature Prize in Poetry with the work Du Tu Le Love Poetry (1967-1972).
On April 17, 1975, Du Tu Le, along with Mai Thao and Pham Duy were sentenced to death in absentia on April 17, 1975. radio station of the Southern Liberation Front for its fierce opposition to communism. After the events of April 1975, he went to the United States as a refugee.
He currently lives in Southern California, continues to write, and has been a contract employee of the Voice of America since 1996. He has also served as editor of the Vietnamese-language newspapers Witness, Right Hand, and Culture in Vietnam. United States.
Du Tu Le is a poet whose many works have been set to music. Up to now, there have been about 300 of his poems that have been set to music by musicians, and are very popular with the audience. Composer Nguyen Bich with "Love Charter", Dang Khanh with "Quoc of Le". Musician Anh Bang with "Khuc Thuy Du". Musician Pham Duy with "Please keep each other's lives in the next life". Musician Hoang Quoc Bao with "People who return like dust". Musician Tu Cong Phung with "On the top of sorrowful love"... In 2001, poet Du Tu Le selected songs by musicians who set music for his poetry, to make 3 CDs of Le's Khuc.
Du Tu Le is also one of 6 Vietnamese poets of the 20th century whose poetry was selected. published in the Anthology of World Poetry - from Antiquity to the Present (World Poetry - An Anthology of Verse From Antiquity to Our Present Time, WW Norton Publishing House, New York, USA, reprint 1998). He also has a number of poetry and literature selected to teach at several universities in the US and Europe since 1981.
Around May 2014, Du Tu Le had a meeting with readers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Du Tu Le's conversation with domestic readers was held on the occasion of the launch of his new collection of poems, The Flower Basket of the New Age, published by LienVietBooks.
The New Age Flower Basket contains 138 articles, selected from among them. The work appeared from the time when Du Tu Le started to write poetry. In which, most of the poems are set to music and are loved by many people such as: Khuc Thuy du, Love melancholy Du Tu Le, Khuc more for Huyen Chau (On the mark of sorrowful love), Kiep Sau, Please save my life for me. each other (Thank you), About the word hopeless... He attended primary school at Hang Voi Primary School in Hanoi.
In 1954, he immigrated to the South with his family. First he settled in Hoi An, Quang Nam, then Da Nang. In 1956, he moved to Saigon and attended the school Tran Luc, school Chu Van An, finally Van Khoa University.
He was the last editorial secretary of the monthly Tien Phong (a magazine of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam), and a professor of teaching time for several Saigon high schools.
